Station 6 – Jesus Receives his Cross

Rabbi Harold Kushner says we ask the wrong question when it comes to our relationship to God, especially as it pertains to the reception of grace. In our pain, in our crosses, we often ask where is God? As he says, we already know the answer to that question. God is right there with us. God’s grace is an unfailing, unwavering, always a present commitment to love. Rabbi Kushner says the more appropriate question is, “When is God?” When do we turn to God? When do we open the door to the presence of God’s grace? The moments we experience our crosses.

Thoughts to ponder:

When do you turn to God most often?

If your life was always smooth and easy, would you turn to God less often?

Feelings are never meant to be judged. Feelings just are. They are an indicator of where we find our lives in the moment. If it is a “when moment,” may we seek God’s grace in whatever way it needs to flow as a healing stream from Calvary’s Mountain.

Jesus has publicly endured personal attacks and rejection, now he carries his cross publicly.

More Thoughts to ponder:

Have you endured a cross in public?

How did it feel? How did people respond?

Do you now find yourself withdrawing from your life to protect yourself from experiencing another cross publicly?
